Got skunked at old civil war camp

Been hunting it for 25 years now and finally got skunked. Last time I went the signals were slim to none with nothing dating to the civil war. Today was the same. A large majority of my early civil war stuff came from the location. Looks like I’ll need another place to go. This place is about picked clean;(

I feel for you. The place we'd been hunting still has stuff, however it is scarce, HOWEVER, I just got permission for the next door neighbor's place. Hope spring eternal. After the ground thaws out.

Haha funny. I went to the neighbors. The farm we owned were the massive union campsite was is long gone with a hwy going through it so I went to the neighbors side and we’ve hunted it so hard over the years that I didn’t get anything but modern shotgun shell casings

A few places I go I feel blessed to get a shotgun shell base. If they are there, a button could be hiding nearby.

That’s exactly what I was thinking. I was high on the ridge overlooking the old road the Confederates marched down and I’ve found a few bullets here and there on top but I just couldn’t pass a shotgun shell base up
