Went to yet another river swimming hole in the Sierra's today.
I was getting a fair amount of targets to dig, mostly pull tabs and pennies, for the first 4+ hours.
Then, as I was making my way back towards my car, I got another pull tab signal...and popped a 14k gold ring!
Another 8-10 feet and I got the Oura ring.

Also got an old VW fender horn grille, a 10 centavos coin, a wheat cent (I'll have to clean it to get a date), a big room key, fishing tackle, and a bunch of change. Oh yeah, and a good amount of pull tabs!

Okay, for anybody struggling with whether or not to keep digging those pull tabs, look at this!
These are the VDI numbers that these tabs came up on the Deus 2.
The most common pull tab VDI that I get, 62, is where the gold ring came up!

Congratulations on the beautiful gold ring. I love your can tab chart. I keep saying that you have to recover those mid tone signal to get the goodies. Yes you dig a lot of trash, but it’s worth it. You prove that time and time again. Thanks for posting, stay safe, good luck and keep swingin.

Congrats on the great looking gold ring.
Seems that your fall is better than the summer.

Looking at your chart (and not reading what was posted) I thought geez how is that the 61 and the 59 look the same but different years. :dontknow::laughing7:
(Yes the blonde came back a knocking)

WOW! Congrats on the gold ring!!!! Do you dig every signal on the beach to make sure you get the gold? What's your typical strategy with that, and does gold ever sound like a decent target or does it always sound like trash?

My opinion is sometimes they will act like a better target, but rarely. The best I've experienced is when I think for sure I'm digging a nickel and out pops a nice gold ring. I have one 23K ring that acted like a quarter on the machine I was using. Yes, it hit high tone even. Most times my gold finds totally surprise me as I'm sure I'm digging a trash target.
grats again oldmx!

Thanks!
These river swimming holes are all rock and gravel bottom and super difficult to dig in, so I'm pretty selective and try not to dig iron. Almost every good signal has a little iron grunt mixed in because of the iron in these places, but I can hear the difference.
The No-BS program for the D2 was a game-changer for me on that count.
Gold rings almost always sound like nickels and pull tabs, with only a couple of exceptions.

I love your VDI chart. It says all you need to know about the importance of digging everything. Congratulations on that beautiful ring.

It will help me to look back at the chart again when I start to question my sanity during the next pull tab filled hunt!
