For months now I've been following the CRH Forum here, posing a few questions along the way and mostly enjoying the posts and trying to learn something.

A mild winter kept me out detecting longer than most years, but now the real January is here, so I started today looking through quarters(have about $200 worth here to start with). It was a slow process today, since I'm working on filling spots in my new coin folders, not just silver seeking (that will happen later). It was fun and fascinating to really look at these coins seriously. Have a new Red Book which I referred to often. Probably got through $30 worth so a long way to go. No silver yet and from what I've read about quarters it will be unlikely to find any.

But at least I've started. Should be fun :D

welcome to the hobby, and good luck.
you never know what you will find; the first time i got 2 rolls of quarters from the bank and got a silver out of that, the next time i got 2 rolls again and got a extra leaf quarter. i thought that was great so i went back and got 20 rolls and not nothing. so the whole point of the story is you never know what you will find.

Welcome to CRH. A couple of denominations you might want to think about if you are trying to put together a series is Jefferson nickels and Kennedy halves. It is VERY possible to complete a set of either of these series. You can find the Kennedy's in circulation that were not released for general circulation, including proofs, and on the Jeffersons folks here on the site have even found the key of the series, 1950-D, in nickel rolls. First CRH Update: I'm about 2/3 of the way through the quarters, and though I've filled a lot of holes in my new coin folders, no Silver or Extra Leaf WI quarters yet :-\. But I wasn't expecting any as I understand quarters are about the toughest search for silver there is.

Is fun, though, and better than watching TV ;D
