Metal Detecting
Hey guys...we got out to one of our ghost towns we hunt and got a 1882 Indian Head....it was 4" down and was a solid 36 on the Safari..this is my oldest coin metal detecting.....love those coins. I also snagged a 1913 Wheatie and a bunch of misc. junk.

No pictures as my camera sucks...it wont focus on the coin and its all blury evertime I snap a shot....so if anybody has any suggestions on how to focus closups...I would appreciate it....and no..getting a new camera is not in the budget as of right now.

HH guys.

I did want to add one thing...The 1853 Seated quarter in my avatar was given to me a change at a small resturant when I paid with cash...I was 17 at the time and keep it ever since...I didn't find it metal detecting......so the Indian head is my oldest coin find while detecting...just wanted to mention that.

Congrats on the IH

Nice! How do you go about finding ghost towns to hunt?

research old maps or weegie board :tongue3:

mount the camera on a tripod or mini-three legged tripod, that will take a lot of the shake out of it. Sometimes one can invert the center shaft of a tripod allowing the camera to be 'under' the tripod, this makes for easier setups as the coin is held in place by gravity. Measure the distance of the coin to the camera and/or use macro setting. the tripod will do most of the work..........63bkpkr

congrats on the Indian head. I can't wait I know of a ghost town I'm going to hunt this spring-summer. The ghost town you hunted in isn't in Michigan is it?
