Hit a war of 1812 site with a buddy of mine...and as usual, we came up with some good finds and had a blast!

My finds for the day:

5 - 1812 Royal Regiment of Artillery buttons (2 cuff) all complete with shanks

1 - Pre-1812 Artillery button

1 - 9 pounder

2 - musketballs

plus misc. junk

The 9 pounder will make a nice addition to my growing collection. I now have a 3 pounder, 6 pounder, and a 9 pounder. Now for a 12 and an 18 :) Dare to dream LOL

The cannon ball either has a very interesting firing mark...or it's a beaten up broad arrow stamp. Sure looks like it if you look from the right angle.

Thanks for looking!

Well, during the Civil War, 3lbers had become just about obsolete (mostly Revolutionary War and War of 1812 use).

Yep, I knew that...although I have no civil war sites here in Canada hah So we have a myriad of cannonballs...most of which are not fused obviously.

Sounds like you have a nice collection

Wess

Wess ,I love military relics and I know the feeling you have when ever you dig a new button that can be identified. Those cannonballs are really exciting also. Huge congrats and thanks for sharing.
