Well Jim, Arty and I went out the other day to see if we could find some new fields to detect. We drove around for awhile but finally found a real nice guy who let us hunt a field we had seen. Jim and Arty posted their finds but I am just getting around to it. A woman's work is never done:) I found 2 1/2 large cents 1851 and an 1808. I also found a N.J. Copper and a half cent. I also found a piece of petrified wood I believe that is really cool. 2 thimbles, 2 pen knives and a 4 buttons. I was a very good day and we just happened to find a good field. So the secret weapon(Me) found a nice place to detect and we all made good finds. Doesn't get any better than that ;D

People say they are some kind of horse tack, like a strap guide on a saddle. They worked in conjuction with these bracket pieces we seem to find on late colonial - early 19th century sites. They are usually very decorative, so they were obviously meant to be seen. However, I still have yet to see one on leather :dontknow:
