Once I had moved into my later teen years, the possibilities of exploring new and more exciting adventures were to follow. We were no longer hampered by transportation problems as someone would have a car and the trips didn't have to be day trips. We would also mix in a little camping along with the explorations.
Our trip would start at Lander's a local seasonal campground that you could also rent a cabin. We would take the cabin for the first night and then they would port us to the starting point with our gear and pick us up at Port Jervis the following day. So we would start our trip and after the first set of good white water, we would port the canoes back and do it again. The same held true for Skinner Fall's itself, we would take that fall once, second time we would take the outside route than ran along it. Later in the day we would look for a good spot to camp along the shoreline and explore the woods a bit. At night we would sit around the campfire and just tell stories. The next day we would do it again, just further down the Delaware until we hit Port Jervis.
Even with this being an easy ride, you had an idea of what Louis & Clark must have appreciated.
