Great Ghost Town Finds 2-5-17

Took out several of my detecting buddies today to hunt my ghost town. There were 2 great finds today. The coin by me and a awesome button by HEBGB. The button is a Jacksonial Steam Engine Button.

Thats an interesting coin there. Far from an expert but it looks like rather crude and unlike any other reales I have seen. Possibly a counterfeit? Not sure as I dont see the 19th century Spanish silver posted often

I've never hunted a ghost town before - I wouldn't even know where to find one back east!

Early Spanish coins were hand stamped so they are not perfect.

That Reale is way cool! Love how it's an offset strike and holed. Congrats!

Toasted it's not a counterfeit. The Zacatecas and Durango mints made far cruder coins than the "normal" colonial Spanish mints such as mexico city, peru, potosi bolivia, santiago and nueva guatemala. 1810's Zac mint coins are also a LOT rarer than any of the above. It's a truly awesome coin with a charmingly unique style that befits its role as a contested city during the Mexican War of Independence.
