Great hunt today, LOTS more stuff to dig! Gold ring #17, some silver & more stuff

Got out to the beach early enough today to spend some more time (6 hrs) looking to see what else the wind has pushed in and I was not disappointed. Tons of clad to dig ($10.57 which I think is a record now for me) and some interesting coins from 3 other countries. A 1919 British Penny, 10 and 5 Peso coins from Mexico, and a $1 coin from East Caribbean States. No Idea what these were doing out there unless people on the cruise ships are tossing their leftover coins in the drink!

Best of it was a 1951 class ring, 10K 7.4 grams, 2 silver rings (one a spoon ring) and a silver peace symbol that used to be part of a ring. Rounding out the rest of the hunt was a SS ring with a design cut through it, 2 silver dimes, 2 wheats and a metric-crap-load of junk.

thrifty76now,

The school is the Bethlehem Technical High School (in Pa). School is now called the Bethlehem Vocational/Technical School. There is no name inside the ring but there are some initials. Trying to see if I can find the graduating class roster from that time but no luck yet. The school changed names and locations over the years it's been around.

History

The beginning of vocational education in the Bethlehem area began way before 1965, when in 1918 a Vocational Shop Program was started and located on East Fourth Street where the South Side Boy's Club is housed. From 1919 to 1934 a program named the Trade School was housed on Fourth Street at the Excelsior Building.

There was also a Vocational Industrial Department located in Liberty High School from 1922 to 1934. In 1934 that same school housed seventh to twelfth grades; consequently, the Industrial Department was moved to Broughal and Excelsior. Between the years of 1934-1940 academic grades from ninth to twelfth were housed at Broughal along with drafting, cabinetmaking, pattern and printing shops while carpentry, electrical, electronics and machining were housed at the Excelsior.

Bethlehem Technical High School was located at the Quinn Building for ninth to twelfth grades. It had 18 classrooms and 10 shops. The school even had its own graduation. In January 1956, vocational education was housed in the new annex building of Liberty High School, as a department. From 1956 to 1964 vocational education came under the supervision of the Liberty High School principal. Finally in 1965 it was finally called the Bethlehem Area Vocational-Technical School. It did not have its own building until 1970 when the new BAVTS school was built adjacent to Freedom High School for $3,000,000 in Bethlehem Township.

Really great find on the class ring . Do you think that the school could be identified?

Congratz on a great hunt!

I heard back from the school but their records only go back to 1965 so I have a contact from the school district I'll try next to se if they can help. The school (current) is actually having it's 50th anniversary right now so they were pretty excited to hear about the ring and what to know if I'm able to find the owner. If not, maybe a donation to the school or something if they would be interested.
