Great Southern Beach Shootout 2008

Hey folks,
I just got back from GSBS 2008 in Daytona Beach. This was my first organized hunt and man, did I have a blast! I didn't win any detectors or win any of the other prizes (and there were plenty). I did, however, get to participate in 6 seeded hunts scheduled on Fri, Sat and Sun. Here's some pics, I'll post more when I get a chance.

Hope to make it next year, maybe. Seems like the detector gods are never in my favor to get there. Looks like fun. With my full head of newly aquired grey hair, looks like I will blend right in.

I really enjoyed meeting you and look forwarded to hunting with you again in the future. This was the 2nd year I attended the GSBSO competition hunt and I WILL be attending next years....................

Thanks Treasure_Hunter. Meeting you and the other people from T-net was the best part of the trip. I met 7 members of T-net including yourself. As far as next year is concerned, I'll have to see how this summer goes. I definitely want to come back. Here's some pics including my finds.

I might suggest if your detector doesnt have a freq shifter to consider one for competition hunts. With 200 detectors around you there is lot of interference.

Last year I didn't have one and the interference was crazy, this year I had 2 detectors with freq shifters (selling 1 now) and I had no problem with interference. I could walk right through middle of other detectors hunting...........

Competition hunts are a blast..

It was a pleasure to meet you both at the hunt.

That was my second year in a row at the shootout and I too plan to be back next year, Good Lord willing.

Yeah, being able to shift frequencies definitely would of been helpful. No telling how many targets I missed because of interference.
