Working an abandoned gas station that shut down in the 60's as interstates pushed traffic off Route 66. I plan on hitting it over the weekend and have pulled 8 silver coins since yesterday, along with a dozen toasted wheaties and about a ton of scrap metal pieces. The station apparently had a mostly gravel lot, and it took a toll on the coins I found there versus in the grassy sides. I got two war nickels, both '42s, one a P and one a S, but they had dramatically different experiences as one was in the lot and one under grass:


I found a Barber dime, which is worn so smooth I couldn't tell from the front what it was. I tried to clean it to get to a date, but there's just not much left:


And four Mercs, all in the gravel. I'm thinking they are all Mercs... they got beat pretty badly:


And finally, a silver Rosie that got hit hard by something:


Most of it is in pretty rough shape, but I'll dig sloppy silver all day long! Thanks for looking and sharing the experience with me.
