Sulfur rock- I think this stuff is coming from a salt dome....Had no idea 1 could be right under the surface...

Yellow serpentine is my guess.. Here's a cut one with hematite (iron ore, black)

This stuff is very soft & it stinks !Lol-i really have been looking at the salt dome info on the gulf of mexico -it sounds about right-and the rocks match up....Now i have to find some chambersite purple rock crystal! Origin: Venice Salt Dome / Lake Hermitage / Plaquemines Parish / Lousiana / USA

How soft? Can you scratch it with your finger nail?

Sulphur does have a low melting point and burns readily in air - maybe your ID wasn't to far off. :hello2:
Chip off a piece and try to ignite it, the smell of it burning is also quite special. :coffee2:
