I spent two days searching a friend's circa 1905 farm. I was sure I would come up with some silver or IH pennies. No such luck, but the brass was jumping out of the soil like salmon. The most curious find was a metal ID tag that appears to have belonged to a government worker. The buckle looks like it is a piece of horse tack.

I've searched plenty of NC farmhouses with a similar result.

Nice collection. Keep hunting- the old coins are out there!

Thanks for sharing...

I use to live in Greenville NC and dug plenty of good colonial goodies. I hope you checked the entire farm and not just where the 1905 farm house was located...some of the best digging I witnessed in the past decade were sites I found in that area.

Glad you go out and saved a few - if you need help researching that area let me know as I might already have dug or researched where your friends farm is.

I agree with HomeGuardDan- I'm sure there is plenty of colonial stuff hiding there- I just started finding flat buttons and crotal bells before I had to move. Ahh the memories... Looks like you had some fun!
