Detector(s) used
CTX 3030, XP Deus, ETrac w/ sunray X1, SDC 2300, XTerra 705, ProPointer
Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
Been lurking on here for a while. Bought a xterra 705 in February (had to buy wife one the next day). I'm finding out it is tough to find any decent areas around here that aren't already picked over but, if you think about it, all the years of metal detectors out there and all the easy pickings and public areas are pretty sparse.

I am not sure how these pictures will show up here, I think I need a different camera. The first is all the clad and change I've found since February with nary a single silver coin to be found...until yesterday. The second picture is a hunt yesterday in a tiny front yard of a friend's home in downtown CDA. Lotta wheats and a little silver, along with some odd tokens. Funny I found two of each token in the same yard. One is Bat Masterson, the other is the old Pier arcade that burned down in the 70's.

The third is all the little jewelry, pins and stuff. A few I have questions about but not right now.

Nice to have a place to go for a plethora of information on the hobby. Hope the pics turn out.

Hi and welcome to T'net :hello:. Your pics are fine for a general overview, but when you want to take a good pic of that special discovery you need to use "macro" and good outdoor lighting. It takes time, for me about 6 months, and I'm only just starting to get it right. But back to your find, congrats on your first silver :icon_thumleft:, and I hope you get many more plus some Gold.

thats a lot of digging since February . . . congrats on the silver . . . as for areas being picked over, no spot is ever completely hunted out of all the good finds . . . just read the posts here every day . . . not sure where your from but I'm sure there's still tons of good finds to be found . . . keep on diggin.

youve been busy, keep it up and you will have those detectors payed for in no time. Good luck.... JYD...

Congrats on the silver.

Congrats on becoming a member here.

Nice chunk of recovered change! If you keep that up you'll have paid for the pair of probes you'll need to find those deep treasures. You've done quite well, no doubt.

That's a nice pile of clad you got there...

Personally I'm still looking for my first silver coin.

mine are never that good no matter what i try

Greetings oldnbroken! Like the name. You live in a great area for ghost and old mining towns. There are booko's of them in Shoshone co. alone following the RR. What co. are you located in? Detectahead

Thanks for the welcome everyone.
Lucky for us we have a soccer complex next to our neighborhood (hence all the soccer pins) and most of the clad came from there. Really good place to practice with the 705. Most of the clad came from there, pushing $100 now. Only around $1800 more and I'll have these suckers paid off. That includes extra coil, pinpointers etc... Am really pleased that Dick sold me the 705 instead of the one I was looking at. I also have interests in nugget hunting in AZ but have yet to learn anyting about the prospector mode on the 705.

Most of it I have found as my wife has yet to go through her first set of batteries in hers. That's okay, I like the peace and solitude of doing this.

I am born and raised around here and grew up with my dad into prospecting and MD'ing as a hobby. Very fond memories of his sixties detector and was in awe at the fancy whites coinmaster?? he bought in the late 70's. Still have them. His neighbor is big into hunting too, may very well be a member here. (Clyde, you here?)

It was really a great rush the other day to finally find the silver. Six silver and nine wheats in a yard probably only 15'x20' max. Public places are pretty tough here, luckily I know a lot of people and a lot of older homes. Hope to have more in the future.

Detectahead, am familiar with the old mining towns. Would love to visit them sometime but always have these visions of getting shot or some kind of a deliverance moment. Prichard, Murray, Eagle, Burke, Gem etc. Would love to spend a day or two just siteseeing. They are only within an hour of us. Someday maybe.

Okay, I'm done for now. Once again thank you all for the welcomes and I hope to have some useful input in the future.

  WELCOME TO TNET

I really envy the guys on the east coast and England even. To us, 1900'ish is old. To you all that is like yesterday.
Am really enjoying reading all the entertaining topics on this site. Very entertaining thanks

Looks like you did a Lot of digging since February, considering the awful spring weather we have had. :toothy2:

Silver hard to come by in our neck of the country, but when it does show up, it can be some good finds! Also some gold lurking out west too.
