I've been lurking on and off for somewhere around 10 years, but never posted. I've always wanted to get into this hobby but never found the spare change to purchase a metal detector. Well, after a year of divorce, selling my house, finding a job in a new state and moving to said state to be an active dad to my two lovely daughters; I bought myself an ACE 350. It arrived a day ahead of the snow and I got to take it for a spin with my girls. We found a pair of modern nickels and a pair of modern bottle caps. My youngest wants to start a bottle cap collection and my eldest can't wait to find something that we can identify and return to the original owner. I can't wait to find anything old that I can identify and trace back to an individual or battle etc.
With the snow hitting us hard today, I'm going to visit the library and start reading up on the local history and maybe research some possible hunting areas for the spring. I hope to be able to post some pictures of us out enjoying the parks and having some real fun MDing. Nothing better to get you excited about history than holding a small piece of it in your hand.
