Grocery shopping with the kids

10,9,7,and 5 yearold kids that spent every day with Daddy breaking horses ,farming ,and logging also went with Daddy to do the grocery shopping.
To give them a sense of responsibility I would give the 3 girls their own list and cart while my 5 yearold son went along to 'help' me with our list.
We met at the checkout one day and started going down the lists.Billie,Jamie,and Jo had one item in their cart that wasn't on their list.
A box of tampax.
" You know what these are for ? " I queried.
" Yes ,Dad ," replied my oldest girl ,"we saw them on television."
"And one of you girls have need of these ?"
"No ,Dad , we got them for Paul. The tv said you can ride a bicycle and swim with them and he can't do either one ."
I think the checkout clerk wet herself laughing.
