I was parked close to my local, and only, Roy Rogers the other day. Never checked out that drive-thru before. Since it was empty and no cars waiting I hit it up for .71 cents. All nickle, dimes and mostly cents. And, as usual the pretty girl at the service window was giving me the evil eye. Best score in a long time. I'll be checking that regular from now on. YTD8.99.
Nickleanddime---no route. Just eyeballing the parking lots while walking, cashier lanes, under retail stores cabinets where brooms doesn't reach the back, between vehicles where people pull out their car keys a dragging few coins with them. Best places for change, and occasional bills, is the fast food drive-thru lanes. The problem there is cars sitting over the coins waiting for their orders. Gotta catch the lanes just right. I've been known to walk between cars when I see a bunch of coins close together. Especially a quarter. I don't go out of my way to check the drive-thru's. Only If I'm there eating or parked close. The service girls usually run out and clean up the coins several time a day. Or so I'm told.
Another good tip is parking lots where the wind blows up against a fence or growth of weeds. There is where you finds the bills. I've only found two one dollar bills this year. Fun hobby. This is the worst year I've had for bills.
