Ground is still mostly frozen and saw a snake out today

Pennsylvania, southern border near York. Rascally red tailed hawk had himself a tasty 2 foot long snake he had just caught. Is this weather weird or WHAT? Didn't the snake know it's FEBRUARY

Snake trumps groundhog! Rough way to wake up though.

Might have been a garter snake. They are the first to come out of hibernation.
