Grove Hunt, Fairgrounds, and Farmers' Union, Silver and more......

Early in the week I couldn't stand it, and had to make a short weeknight trip to the Grove where I picked up a 1919 wheatie and a 1901 Indian.

On Saturday afternoon Michigan Butcher came over to meet and spend a few hour swinging coils. I met him at the old fairgrounds that is now soccer fields and our Community Park. He brought his Ace 250 and I introduced him to the wooded area that has been very productive for me.
We hunted a couple of hours there where I found a 1908 D Barber Dime, and an old spoon (not pictured).

The Barber was not very deep at all, inch or two, and when I hit it the sweet silver tone was loud and clear.

Finding the dime seemed to inspire Michigan Butcher and within a few minutes he had a Buff. I'll let him tell that story.

We moved on to the old site of the Farmers' Union Building. Another spot I've done pretty well on war nickels, mercs and wheaties.
Here I found a Basketball tag of some sort, and a Globe Logo that looks vaguely familiar, and brings to mind an automotive logo.

I'll let Michigan Butcher tell the story of his silver find here too.

All in all a very pleasant day of hunting. First time I had met MB. A nice guy, and a pleasure to hunt with.
Thanks All for taking the time to read this post.

Good Luck,
Mark

The globe thingy is from Ford's first world car, also known as the 1984 Escort. Nice pennies too.....NGE

Hey all, Like Mpostma said, We had a great time! A Big Thank-You to him for taking me out and sharing his sights with me! And also for teaching me a thing or two. I think I walked right over where he found that beautiful 1908 D Barber dime, I think I was swinging to fast and not overlapping my swings? Oh well live and learn. LOL :) I did find a Buff.. just minutes after his find and got a nice silver dime at the next site. All in all...had a great time MDing and meeting Mpostma! right side of pics is the finds last Saturday...Left side is from earlier this year.

Gary,
The '37 Buff is in great shape!
That Merc almost looks like it was in a fire. What kind of area did you find it in?

Gotta go,
Headed to Otsego Memorial for a check-up. You know that place?
Good Luck,
Mark
