Had a fantastic time detecting...I'm doing the happy dance!
I am still on cloud 9!!!
Now understand, I haven't found anything that old at all, I think my oldest find until today was a 1954 Wheat penny.
I went back to the playground/park where I found a Sterling Silver ring and the 10kt gold ring. I hit the woodchips for about an hr, didn't find anything that interesting, some clad and a couple pieces of junk jewelry and a Chuckie Cheese token. A BIG group of kids came into the playground area so I kind of was detecting my way back to the car. The area where the park is is VERY old....right down the street from it is a tavern where George Washington had stopped.
Well, I was checking out a gully area where the rain had kind of washed away the dirt and I got a steady 50 cent signal on my Ace 250. I dug down only like 2 inches and found a 1851 Large Cent! I was so thrilled...I feel like I have finally gotten into the "old stuff club"!!! I checked around that area for a bit and got a 1949 wheat and another wheat that I couldn't read the date. Also in that same area a small old looking pipe fitting kind of thing and an old shotgun shell that says "Winchester Repeater No. 12"
The Large Cent isn't in perfect shape...far from it but at least I can see the detail on it and make out the date no problem at all! YAY!!!!!
