Hi Folks,
Went back to the old fairgrounds I posted about the other day (couple seated's from the old fairgrounds) and found a 1855 half-dime. Was there for about 4 1/2 hrs and found the half-dime about an hour into the hunt. Was around 4 inches deep and was found about 20 feet from where I left off the other day. Thanks for looking.
Mike

Very nice 1/2 dime. I'm sure that made your day. I would have made mine.

Great hunt!! I literally struck out today, not one keeper at the new site (not a site anymore) :laughing9: :laughing9: :laughing9:

I guess I would have to say about 4 pieces of trash per coin. This fairground is where they had what was known as agricultural fair, which i believe the county fairs evolved from. This fairground was in existance from 1867 to about 1890, and is pretty void of a lot of trash. Most of the trash i dig is old shotgun brass, washers and pieces of wire off farm machinery. Mike

Nice find!! :headbang: Congrats on the half dime.

Congrats on the half dime. It's looks to be in great shape.

Found one myself. I was walking down a 'haul' road after a rain on a site (when you could still fill wetlands) consisting of maybe 6 feet of fill from all over the city, and there it was, on a little pedestal because of the rain, standing up just like an arrowhead smiling at me.

Didn't even need a detector, and of course no idea where the fill came from.

Great score!
