Ok I know I'm not this lucky but the only thing I can think of is the hammer to an old gun. Can anyone tell me what this thing actually is? Not a clue. However, it doesn't look like any hammer I have ever seen. Maybe someone has seen one before.

Part of a "thumb latch " lock, especially if found in conjunction with a hinge. Does ya know what rhymes with oranges ? door hinges. LOL

on another note.... I must say that the hinge would be a nice display item. That one really is nice, and I have never seen anything close to it.

I hope someone here can give a date on it...it looks very old

Thumb latch to a window lock. The small end rides under a raised metal bracket on the upper of two windows to keep them from being pulled up or down.

Nice looking hinge. Not sure what it went to, but the design is pretty sharp.
