Found this stone object on private property near 2 known prehistoric settlements: a Middle Woodland site (Candy Creek), and a Mississippian (Ledford Island) along Tennessee's Hiwassee River. IMG_E6294.webpIMG_E6292.webpIMG_E6298.webpIMG_E6296.webpIMG_E6297.webp

Or maybe a net sinker? Or nothing?

Could have been used to bust some nuts or break open a skull in pinch but my guess is it wasn't made to. Only a guess.

If it was used as a hammer, I would expect to see battering evidence on the business end. From your pics, I'd say it is a naturally formed stone. Keep looking though. There's a lot more artifacts in the ground to be found. Good luck.

No signs of being made or used by man....

Looks natural to me, no real sign of use.

Thanks. Will keep keeping on.
