I was coming back from the chiropractor and saw a estate sale. I don't usually stop at these due to prices always being so high. I didn't see a whole lot but did pick up a few items, nothing spectacular but was hoping someone could help me identify one thing in the pictures below. It's the small black box. There was a note underneath it saying that they knew the person would want this light? I know for as little as that thing is, it weighs close to 3 pounds. Also, I picked up a vintage ll bean wool coat in nice condition, vintage weather station, and a metal box...thought it was a tackle box but not sure what it is now, the contents are a little unusual such as rubber cement, charcoal, etc. Also picked up two old wool looking hats. I paid 10 bucks for all the contents. Take a look below

What does it say on the back box - can't make it out - blurry...

On the black box, is there anything on the back? The hole almost looks like it's for an video input for an rca or rf cable.

I think your black box may be the weighted lamp base for an Electrix gooseneck lamp minus the gooseneck lamp portion. What's the underside look like?

PS-I would rather go to one good estate sale than 10 garage sales.

The green tackle box looking item may have been used as just a box to contain craft working items.

I believe you are right diggumup, it is a base to a gooseneck lamp. It's a shame I didn't have the rest of it as I paid 25 cents for the base. I'm not sure if just the base is sellable. May have to crack open the base to seen if there is any metal to scrap.

You are right rookie. This box was used for the previous owners type of work. When I get time tomorrow, I'll dig in there to see what it is.

The green metal box was used for college art classes in the 70's....

Interesting items. What made you buy the wool hats?

I don't know lol...I guess I was just in a buying mood...They are probably going to be a tough sell, but it's the only way I'm going to learn. I think I paid a buck a piece for them. I've only been doing this a few months so I'm a little bit all over the place right now...lol. I've been making money every trip out but I'm only spending around a dollar on everything I buy so failure rate is kind of low. I went out a little bit today and found some more things but I got to get ready to go to work. I'm going to try to post my latest findings this weekend.
