I haven't but know a friend that hits the beaches in France around Cannes I think it was. He does well too, but said police and customes give him fits bringing taking anything out of the country, or back into ours, so he sells the gold there. He says most of the places he goes never seen a detectorist and he is always asked if he is looking for mines.

I live over seas and I can tell you detecting is incredible! This is basically what the beaches look like all over the Mediterranean countries, from Italy over France to Spain and up the Atlantic coast. Then it goes on all the way to the Baltic ocean resorts. The great advantage IS that you've got the beaches to yourself, especially if you hunt the water. I live in Germany and do the lakes, though I have a few ocean trips planned for the yar. Here is a pic of a beach in Rimini, Italy and part of my 2005 summer finds.

I go to Spain every year and hit the beaches south of Barcelona, great times
