Has Anyone tried the Deus2 in Fresh Water Lakes

I hate ticks! Hate is not strong enough of a word for it.
I hate ticks with a passion that surpasseth all understanding. I, d like to gather all the ticks in the world and burn them with a flamethrower that has a never ending supply of fuel then bury the ashes at least a thousand feet deep in the densest clay soil to be found on the planet. Pour concrete over hole and place a monument to commemorate the event!

Agreed!

i often dunk a detector while wading in the lakes..Any thoughts so far
I just bought a legend. I am hoping it works as well underwater as my Tiger Shark has. The Tiger Shark still works but nice to only have to haul one detector to do sand and water.

Bill, I think the D2 will excel in the fresh water just as the D1 does with the water wire setup. Best of luck my friend.
Yes I agree ..I don’t hear of many defects on XP products and should not have to worry about it leaking and if I can find a few items that perhaps others have missed it could be a win win

I often dunk a do-nut while contemplating wading in lakes,by time I finish the do-nut I,m usually talked out if wading in lakes! Works for me,your mileage may vary!:notworthy::laughing7::coffee2::occasion14:
I really really love water detecting - as deep as I can go and still keep my head above water.

It’s been over two years now without DD.I might be wrong but
Wading in lakes I think is more difficult than walking the low tide line

Indeed! Lake bottoms can be uneven and mucky, poor footing and if you fall, not as pleasant as falling into the ocean. Snakes, snapping turtles, leeches,I think I,ll have another do-nut!:laughing7:

I think there,s a real difference in Minnesota lakes and S.E.Arkansas lakes. Lots of times if you,ve got your head above water here it means you,re in 2 feet of water and 3 feet of mud,if you get my drift. No rocks,no sand, just muck, bad smelling muck at that.:laughing7: Snapping turtles, leeches, snakes, alligators, assorted creepy crawlies!

I agree 100 percent lakes at times are very difficult.
I only wish I lived closer to the ocean and I probably would get out there more often.

Hey,you,re closer than I am! Not all lakes are created equal!:laughing7:
:notworthy:
I just prefer the ocean beaches and in my opinion I think tourist locations offer more rewards.
But for now the lakes I go to the water is crystal clear.
When conditions improve I hope to try to travel again

The lakes I got are about as clear as mud! Literally! I,m glad you and Susan have better lakes to wade.I do have miles upon miles of sandbars along the Rivers but they get very little human traffic. They also change very often due to river currents constantly eating away some and building new ones elsewhere.

One of my local lake has tons of fish and those buggers nip at you while you detect. But the biggest hazard are the big fish hooks left over from the ice fishermen.

I see the videos of the guys out hunting the smooth calm waters in Florida and am a bit envious. The beaches here in SoCal are constantly pounded by waves and can be like a washing machine in the impact zone. It’s very rare to have a calm, flat ocean that’s smooth and easy to navigate.
I trade that for a mirror flat lake any day.

Yes the sudden ocean waves can be dangerous and knock one down quickly and I usually won’t experience those conditions in the lakes here.
Looking at the videos i see many hotels and resorts in the background and I just think that when people travel and can pay thousands to stay perhaps the chance to find better rewards may be present
Please stay safe out there

I use a Excal2 now and feel it passes over smaller targets and just thinking perhaps a Deus 2 might help.
In the fresh water lakes dunking a detector is difficult at times vs.hunting the low tide line on the ocean beaches.
I also want to try some land hunts but one has to be extremely careful of the ticks up here.
I heard of a person close by that nearly lost vision in one eye and I just saw a friend who now has a immune system disease from a tick bite

Do a thorough tick check after every trip out, especially after having walked through tall grasses (even "wood ticks" are generally picked up in tall grass, not so much in actual woods) and treat your detecting clothes with permethrin.
