Found smack dab in the middle of a Civil War battlefield. I first thought it was a Georgia piece. Most of it is here, it is very thin brass. I annealed the badly bent up piece, they turned reddish under the heat. Any ideas what this is/was? DSCN0030.webp

2.25" x 1.75". It has a floral design with arches on the top, and neo-classical pillars on the bottom section. We were smack dab in the neo classical period at the Civil War as the Victorian period was just getting going good. That's why there are so many pillars on those old houses back then.

It has some real nice details, congratulations on the saves

I think it was deliberately folded. Look at the uniformity of the pieces. Any ideas on what it was?

Nice save, cool find...hope you get a positive ID! :icon_thumleft:

Could it have been curved at one time? This piece is from a mantle clock..column ornament...???

It is possible it was from furniture, but definitively rectangular in shape.
