I was pretty tired out when I reluctantly decided to dig "one more" target I knew it sounded solid but I was tired and pretty sure it was iron... . there is so much junk iron at this place.... but anyway I'm glad I did here it is.

Nice find indeed gatorboy, congrats.

any suggestions hole to clean your relics. I have two of those hatchet heads to clean ..

There is a lot of personal preference... And I've done everything from electrolysis to Naval jelly.
For this one because it wasn't that bad I just put it in white vinegar and used a wooden dowel and my thumb to rub away loosened rust periodically over a three day period.
When clean I soaked it in baking soda water overnight to neutralize the acid.
Then just condition and seal the metal.

Nice save, GatorBoy. You might want to start a new thread in the Restoration section and detail your process. I would have loved to seen the outcome of your hatchet using the molasses method.

That's a good idea and thank you.
