6-8-11 Spent a few days deciding whether to post this one . Found at 7 inches with the Fisher CZ in the early American home stead. Cuban branding plate to burn a trademark on a wooden cigar box or leather :icon_scratch: LA CORONA DE HIERRO HABANA , One of the Finest Cuban Cigars in the World since 1845 " Thanks Hispan ", strange find in South Jersey . ??? More buttons and pottery before I called it because of bugs :sunny: ticks are in full force here and it seems like they are attracted to Deet . HH, CMDawg

searched around and found little info . Factory started in 1845 , closed in the 1970's ... it's a hot one , do the same ...ok Thanks Quindy :icon_sunny: dawg

Nice find Dawg ! It makes me wonder if they were counterfeiting cubans in Jersey or if in fact the packaging of real cubans took place in Jersey ??? Mainerelic

A lot of unsolved mystery surrounding this piece :icon_scratch: ??? I like the fact it was used on many Quality cigar boxes 8) 8) 8) there were many refugees who fled Cuba back in the 60's & 70's , most of them stayed down South but it's hard to say if many cigar makers made it up this far North . I am not sure if these were packaged in NJ before the trade embargo with Fidel Castro regime. Thanks for the comment MR and have a Great 2011 summertime up there 8) Dawg hot here, mid 90's :P

Glad to see someone else other than myself still using the Fisher CZ's. Still an awesome machine after its introduction 17 years ago. An old analog machine that never gets EMI interference like the digital machines occasionally will get!

That is a cool find!!Did you try parmathin on your clothes for the ticks?

I'll give you a hint...Italiano's and cigars in Jersey is a pastime tradition
Great find
Ciao

Thanks to all , Strange find with a mystery surrounding this item . It had to either come from the factory in Havana ..pre Castro regime or they were packaging these cigars in NJ . A lot of the old timers smoked Cuban cigars around here according to the local historian in town . I would like to rig a handle on it , place it in some red hot coals and brand some wood with it . It has a lead back .dawg

A little champagne, a Corona from Habana, all in mosquitoville. What could be better? Oops I take that back... Nice little torcher find and very odd one at that. Very neat Dawg. Arty

Best digs to You

I found this-
1910 LA CORONA (owned by the American Tobacco Trust) was making 40,000 Havana cigars a day.
1933 American Tobacco moves LA CORONA, BOCK y CA, VILLAR y VILLAR, HENRY CLAY and other Cuban brands to modern air-conditioned factory in Trenton, New Jersey.

Here- http://www.nationalcigarmuseum.com/Cigar_History/History_1910-1960.html But i'm still looking for that particular logo. I haven't found it yet.

Pretty neat find CMDawg, :icon_thumright: . Yup the hard ground and bugs are back in season.
