I don't know bud but I will take real wild guess, maybe a turkeytail of some sort. can't really say with the base missing.

It does have the classic Turkey Tail shape and does seem to be made from Hornstone, so maybe it is a TT that has either had the base broken off by plow damage or it could have been ceremonially broken since most of them were. You might go back to where you found it if you can remember the spot and look to see if there are any more being exposed from a Cache.
 
I don't know what kind it is but it is nice.

That's exactly what I was thinking, a Turkey Tail. And like DorkFish mentioned, they were pretty much made for ceremonial purposes and normally purposely broken, I would say there are more to be found in that spot.
 
I have two that look almost just like this and I couldn't tell if they were broken or just made this way. I will get the camera at lunch and post a picture I have of one I found last week.
