This should be a real eye opener for you guys :) I reopened my Great Grandfathers old Gold Mine & have been in the bush mostly for the last 2 weeks. I marked the tunnel enterance with the rods ¬¬. We dug out the opening, went in and found gold right off. This was never patented but my family and others did take a lot of gold out of it back in the day. It still has gold and should make your pendulum scream like mad :) This is a quartz vein with visible gold in places mine area and you can see I turned it over so you are looking south at the enterance which is exactly how you walk up on it. So what I want to know is, which way does the actual gold vein run, how much is there, how wide and how deep do I need to go. The tunnel right now is about 65 feet long and goes south by south east. Should I go up or down, left or right, or continue blasting straight ahead? Where is the strongest or largest target? This should be a lot of fun and I do know the history of this mine and our other mines that the family had in the area back in the day :) Gold Mine.webp

Remember, your looking at it upside down from south to north instead of north to south.

Reed this is how iGold Mine (Large).webp place it,the big yellow spot is the strongest spot, the tunnel don't seem's to be there yet. might have to open in paint.

The tunnel is right there. It's about 5 to 8 feet high mostly and 6 feet or more wide and I am approximating the horizontal depth at 65 feet long though the opening is only about 3 feet around right now until we finish digging it out. This is part of the quartz seam in the back of the tunnel. That yellow dot looks to be about where we are right now. Is the gold still there? It may be just ahead a bit more :) The slope of the vein is around 60°SW of center. I have no idea how deep or how far up it goes. It may come out on the mountain up higher but we have a lot more exploration to do.

Hey Reed..I did not try to follow the mine shaft as you know where it goes..I found 5 gold veins in the area...I just ask if there was a vein in each grid...I did not try to follow each..We have all heard stories about miners making the wrong decision and turning right instead of left or like up at the 16 to one mine where they found a millions between to tunnels...So in the area outlines in yellow is where the gold veins are...Art

5 Gold Veins? Your drawing makes a lot of sense Art :) So the lower right corner is where we are now and we have found gold. And it is at a 60° approximate downward left sloping angle or 60° SW of center (Center = Horizontal) Do you know if any of the veins on the right side are at the surface?

I think Okie has the tunnel marked as close to exact as possible in the yellow square. Thanks Okie :)
Then you Art have the entire quarts and gold vein marked which could be maybe 500 feet deep on the left or the deepest portion and possibly exposed on the right up in that valley in that 3rd square from the bottom right, which is where the other tunnel starts heading in also. Thanks Art :)

I haven't been in that other tunnel yet because it's all covered with snow. Can you guys possibly get depth or hot spots? Is that finger that points out to the left separate or connected? How about an amount of gold? Can you see any dollar signs? hehe.

The more the merrier :)

Hey Reed..I can tell you that there is @100 million in gold in the area..The spot in red is an exposed gold vein..It can be found by following the float to the source...I have no clue as to how much it would cost to recover it..Art

So do you want to come out and find it with me? hehe. Yea the geologist said it was an excellent find back in the 70's. I have another geologist coming out after winter is over. I've been holding on to this spot for 20 years while waiting for retirement. Now it's here, I'm retired... I think... but now I'm breaking rocks just like the guys in Leavenworth... lol. Does it sound like retirement? haha. I love gold mining, it's always exciting.

I was sort of forced into retirement in 1981..Since then I have been chasing that yellow stuff..I have had great years and some that were not very good..but all in all it has been a fun trip...I hope you like my map dowsing as after my last stroke I have failed to get my confidence back....Could you tell me if your mine has 4 branches off the main tunnel? An old timer told me that in California a mine tunnel should be started at 3200 feet in elevation...

There's actually 2 tunnels, one on top of the other. In the lower there is 1 main tunnel going in at angles with some short branches, I didn't count them because they are almost considered bumps. Then there is another tunnel coming in from the right side. I have only been in the one tunnel so far. I will let you know how many branches are in the other one when we have it opened up. For now we have at least 3 tunnels and the end of the bottom can be considered a full branch or extension making it 4 as it dips to almost due east. I do like your dowsing, if I didn't, I wouldn't be here. There's a great group of dowsers here on this forum

On the top Google map I had got a good hit below the placemart, about the same distance as Okie, it cold of been slightly on the left side of his box. Then there seemed to be some quartz veins running up off a distance to the right from the placemark, Then above a little to the left, probably just some placer gold (if associated with these veins). That other photo was getting signals around bottom right corner and on the edge of bottom left up the left side. Not quite sure where you are supposed to be on it.

Hey Reed...I am getting that the gold vein in the bottom tunnel is very short...the top tunnel seems to have a long vein in it...Art

Hey Red :) I was happily waiting and wondering when you were going to chime in :)
I'm not sure right this second exactly where that second picture was taken. I think it was the back wall looking straight ahead but not the whole wall, just the upper section. I just put it in to show the vein. This pic is the vein low on the left wall going down. We got quite a bit of gold out of just the little bit of quartz we broke off of it that Rodney crushed. I will be making some videos of our progress in the future and i will keep you guys posted :)

Thanks Art :) then we will open up the top tunnel also. Lots of work ahead before we even get started inside.
This project has my blood pumping. We're in full motion, gathering equipment and everything. I haven't taken the video camera with me yet but I will once we are up and running. The pics are dark because we are just using head lamps and those inside were taken with Rodney's phone.

This is where I was picking up gold in the bottom right corner. Not sure just yet what is causing the signals on the left edge. Top left yellow circles, gold seems a little closer to the surface.

I think it's back some, at least 3-7 feet, away more in the bottom area.

Some of the yellow is probably just the quartz vein. I've marked in orange where I'm picking up what seems to be a sufficient amount of gold.

Do I see some color in there or is it just flash off the quartz?

The area off the right, where I had been picking up other quartz veins, is within the yellow lines.

Thanks Red. The 3 dots on the right I believe are exactly where that other tunnel is. The big ones on the bottom are also where a tunnel used to be. They were vertical shafts and people filled them with garbage then covered them over with dirt. The ones straight up from my mark, I will check out and I think the others in the upper left are where we are heading right now. 3 to 7 feet ahead is what I felt when I was inside but I also felt more to the lower left in that pic and also in the upper right about half way in, no pic of that. Yes there is visible gold in the quartz. I will send you guys some when we get up and running :)
