Haven't posted in a while. Here is this months finds
Hey guys, I haven't posted in a while. School's kept me pretty busy, but that's okay I managed to finish the semester with a 4.0. The month started off with this heart breaker. It was the only point I found for the day... sure wish I could have found it whole.
Here it is in hand:
I picked up this nice mosasour vertabra not far away:
A few days later I headed out to a local creek that has been kind to me in the past. After about an hour I found this preform hiding under a bush:
It was our first 90+ degree day here in Texas, but I continued on and was rewarded for my effort:
It's an early archaic point called a Wells.
Hit a new creek a few days later and fell in love with it. Found this uni-face side notched knife not far from the bridge:
Found this little quartz scraper hiding under a rock a few hours later:
After several hours in one of the prettiest creeks I've ever seen I decided to call it a day. I was thinking about how nice it would be if I could find a point on the way out when I spoted this one playing hide and seek... I had walked over it about half and hour before on the same gravel bar I found the scraper:
A little closer
In hand
Take a look at this!
I went out with a good friend yesterday. He found little ugly Gary fairly early on but that was it. After several hours of fighting the heat, plants, bugs, and snakes, with out much to show for our efforts we reluctantly turned back. We decided to QC each others work on the way back and he found a nice 2 3/4" woodland point that I flat missed. (Sorry, no pics) I guess I got in to big of a hurry and I flat missed this thing... Talk about getting sick... He spent the next thirty or forty minutes trying to cheer me up. He was in the process of telling a rather long joke, while I was reminding myself of the week I had had... I was actually coming out of the rather sad mood I was in, when I stopped in my tracks. This is what I saw:
It's one of the prettiest Garys I've ever seen. It's right 2 1/2" lg and 1" wide.
I may try to get out before the end of the month, it's been raining today so the creeks ought to be turning over. I hope you enjoy the pics as much as I enjoyed posting them... Razor
