went out to my WW2 airbase sunday been hunting since 11-06. i wuz metal detecting and some dude came up n said wat ya doing? well i aint been in my right mind lately nd i just ignored him. i just dug up 1 1940 5 center ,42 center and a nice 1929 s wheat. he then said old man ya gotta leave dis is private property. now not being in my right mind i asked him how fast can he run? being a young person he got scared and left. it wuz a good day found a merc moments later and left. dont get me wrong the whole time i wuz on federal property not his.

I detect on Seymour Johnson AFB often and have never had any problems. Security Police drive by and I wave.

you are right and there is a very good lesson here. yes its U.S. property but only the G.A.P. wherehouse owns some of it the rest is the Army National Guard.The boy wuz a low paid security doing wat he wuz told. As far as federal land i have permission as long as as i stay 40 feet frum da fence. The local museum got some of my finds and i returned 5 dog tags. Ken dont worry i would never put myself in that position. Thanks fur the reply
