Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
We will be in Texas about June 1st. First to Van Alstyne, then Corpus. Anyone hunt there? We are going out to Padre Island to stay on the beach. I will not even take the detectors there. But, do plan to do lots of walking and eye searching. It is Federal land and I am not that desperate. My husbands brother lives in Corpus, so I can leave the detectors there when we go to the Island. Are there any parks that can be hunted in Corpus? Or older schools?

you can drive on those beaches. you have to buy a little beach parking permit at a local convenient store. that may be port aransas and mustang. People spread out so far that you cant see each other. we were there 3 or 4 years ago. had a detector with me. it would not tune on wet sand. takes yours. there aint many people there and you can see somebody coming a mile away so i would not worry so much. there are so few people up near Mustang state park , you could go nude and no one notice

Go north of Padre, outside the National Seashore. Beaches are public and MDing Ok. Don't waste time on the beach. Hit the second line of dunes and work back across the island. Watch for rattlers(may hear one). Trust me, (Spanish)coins and jewelry have been found in the past. You may get lucky. If you must, search the tide line and the beach near dawn. You will get nails and maybe a coin, but understand something. I saw this island underwater when Carla hit. Old ships generally are not near the beach. They are either inland or wrecked out off the second sandbar. Nowadays luck will help you out, back in the 50's the treasure was easier to find...
