There are some places there to mine gems...don't know about good detecting spots. Have fun and good luck. My nephew lives there..say hi for me will ya?

Not any more.....I cleaned 'em all out!..... Right...I wish. I live just south of Asheville. There are a number of schools and parks. The old Asheville speedway isn't a bad place. It's a killer city park now with tot lots, vollyball court, open area for walking and part of the old parking lot is a huge ballfield. Email me if you want any details. Check the weather, though.....supposed to be a rather wet one...at least that's what they said today and you know they are usually right on.......... Good luck and let us know how you made out.
