Hello Panner, Living here in Michigan, I wanted to work around Juneau to find some good gold but, other Alaska miners say that Juneau was only a jump off point on the way to the gold fields north. How do you find the gold in the Juneau area? Thanks for any help. JOHN

I’m coming from Juneau Alaska. Not sure what I’m able to do given the fact that im traveling with my wife on her work trip.

Anyway I wouldn’t mind hanging out with one of you and doing some legal gold prospecting. I’ll return the favor if you want to come up here.

We’ve got a lot of claims in Rye Patch, NV. About 40 miles east of Lovelock out on the California Trail.

We’re not in the area this week but if you decide to road trip a couple hours east of Reno we can hook you up with some ground. A friend of ours (a true local) let’s folks prospect for $20 a day. It’s a pretty sweet deal.

Right cool good to know not sure what my plans are as of yet but I could probably rent a car.

They have been saying that for years. I have actually shown a guy off here a spot that was all good flour gold he said it was the best he’s seen. Glad I only showed him that spot. Lots of work here let me know when you’re in town I’ll show you the spot.

Gold is definitely where you find it. I’m definitely not trying to rip that quote off .

Well if you strike it good at the Rye Patch you can go loose it at the Nugget in Sparks or the butt huts in Dayton....lol

Had a lot of good times in Juneau. Fell timber out on Chichagof Is. (sp?) in '84. When the job was over I flew into Juneau and worked on what we called "the spam can" in downtown Juneau kinda kitty corner to the capitol building. Red Dawg Saloon, Triangle Bar, Sportsman, etc. etc., probably still there. Enjoy your time down south and good luck in the Patch...!!!!!

Appreciate all the advice I wound up sticking around the casino and blowing all my cash exploded Walmart and downtown though hah.

I heard people here just go down to places like rye patch or make the hour trip to California as it is so close from our town here. Never heard of one "in reno" per say, besides the specimen gold found nearby but it is all claimed land.
If you want a chance try hunting under the bridges downtown I still see people hunting there often, the rumor says many men lose their wives in town due to the strip clubs, and off goes the ring!

For those that haven't been here this is what the parking lot is like. You should see it after dark!

I think the THREAD got hijacked, funny how people know every ones story. GRATITUDE for what you have is probably what needs to happen !

First day I actually went there at night wasn’t as bad as I expected but I definitely got the breaking bad vibe.

Was not an intentional hijack, just live in the area. Used to shop there. I don't anymore. Tough to shop for beer there on the 1st of any month. Our tax dollars wipe out the beer cooler at midnight. Juneaupanner, I hope your wife's meeting went well.

I've been looking around Reno for good spots and I'm not having any luck.. everyones pointing to the motherlode or Winnemucca area.

There is gold north of Fernley, but you'll have to do your homework first. And not a lot of water to work with.
