I have an Excaliber II that I use in the islands. I don't dive but I sometimes snorkel. But even when I'm water hunting the headphones sometimes get submerged. And after every use I thoroughly rinse the entire machine including the headphones. I'm sending the unit in for a "tuneup" and want to have them change the headphones. Are Grey Ghost Amphibians adequate or do I need to go to the underwater model? Thanks for the help.

Those are what I have on one of mine. I like the volume control and sound quality, but, I don't find them very comfortable. I have another Excal with a custom set made from some ear muffs that feel real nice. They use the stock "yellow" speakers though, so, they're a bit tinny sounding like most of the stock ones, and it doesn't have the volume control. (a minor drawback IMO) The problem I find with many of the underwater headphones is that after being dunked, the ear pads fill with water and don't drain. After a while they begin to stink almost as bad as my booties! :angry4:

Both sets of GG will serve your purpose, but the GGA's are louder. One thing to remember, keep underneath the knob on the GGA's clean and greases after each dive if saltwater. The Volume control does have a habit of freezing up if not cared for. Also I use Gel Pads for all of my head sets.

OBN wish I had sent it to you. The new Minelab repair center will not do the pinpoint mod. I didn’t know you were back in business in December.

I know KC dont do the ML repairs (or do they do some)........ but do they still do the Xcal mods? i dont know that ive heard..... i know they still have a repair shop doing repairs. Joes has the answer...... right now the GG and yellows are about it for really dunking unless you want to build your own that can handle occasionally dunking. The only problem i found with the GG is not all sound alike. For me, i never used that volume knob.
