Heavy brass with lines.

Found this digging where I found my harmonica reed. What is this? It is very heavy. It has lines. Each sides are solid. How old is it??

Just rings. no threaded man.

Maybe some sort of fastener - maybe nautical - to hold two pieces of wood together and the grooves are for added grip once it’s hammered tightly in. Another idea is maybe it’s some sort of extrusion? Final thought is that they are lathe marks on a rough finished or unfinished piece.
