3.30 Hours on the beach. Finds were not too good but the weather was nice.

The band was longer but damaged, I cut it to get it in the picture. The big "key" is broken : the switch is gone. The big round thing is NOT a canon ball but just a "boule d'un jeu de boules" !

1. 6.90 Euro = 8.25 USD
2. 5 + 5 + 1 = 11 Belgian Frank

The little soldier is my personal talisman/mascot. JUST WHAT I NEEDED, hahahaha !

ThankYouForLooking !

trk5capt,

As a boy, I lived near IEPER ("Ypres"). Here they fought for 3 years in trenches and in 1915 in Boezinge the first "chemical attack ever" was launched. The Germans tried gas as a weapon and of course, a few months later the allies did the same.
At home we had "nothing but" WW1 relics : grenades, bayonets, belts, guns, bullets (a lot "still to be fired"), shrapnel's, helmets, etc etc. After WW1 my grandparents started digging because they could earn MORE money with the copper that was found than by working. I believe that, when & if they found a dead soldier, they got a premium, but I am not sure (anymore) about that.
Even today, almost 90 years later, they find bombs and stuff of WW1 almost daily. Metal detecting in that zone, around Ypres, is ILLEGAL.

WW2 was different for us, here. That was more occupation but even from thàt war we had a lot of stuff. Like 20-25 years ago, long after my grandparents died, I sold a lot of stuff. What use was it to me ? I am no collector, so...

And I live in a mediaval town. I am sure I would find a lot of old/very old things if I started searching here but I am not all that much intrested in old stuff.

It is all a matter of intrest & choice, I guess, trk5capt !

Greetings from Belgium.
