Hello and Merry Christmas from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. :hello:

Just got around to checking out this web site and have spent days catching up, especially with all the posts regarding Michigan.

I'm a retired mining and exploration geologist. Spent a very rewarding 50 years in the mines and in field work. Specialty is in Michigan copper deposits, but also ranged throughout all of North America exploring for and working on deposits of gold, silver and platinum.

Hope I might be able to add to the discussions as much as I will take away from them.

Snow? More than enough. Maybe foot and a half on the ground (level) with another six inches today, and still snowing.

Packers; nope. Unfortunately, the Detroit Lions, like forever. I have essentially given up. Hell will freeze over and pigs will fly before I see a winning team again.

Hope to see posts on where you are md'ing. I grew up in White Pine and Ramsay. I am now retired so this summer I should have more time to md. I don't post anymore but I do read alot here. It's nice to have you on board.

Cool, 4-H posted the album cover. I hope it doesn't offend Yoop, but 'Thirty Point Buck' and the 'Second Week of Deer Camp' really spoke to a lot of us southerners. We got that.

da Yoopers don't offend me one bit. The words they sing are so close to the truth it makes your eyes water. "Rusty Chevrolet" and "Second Week of Deer Camp" are my favs.

Besides, I can't help it if they talk like me.

I had all their CDs, but gave them to my daughter. She was born in Calumet and can really relate to them.

Ever get a chance stop at the Yooper's Gift shop, owned by them, in Ishpeming. It's a place to get some really different things.

Love 'da Yoopers. I have vacationed in the UP every year since I was a very little boy. I hope to retire there someday.

Welcome! My mom's family homesteaded on the Keweenaw back in the mid 1800's. Most beautiful place in the world. Someday I'm going to have my ashes scattered up there.
