I am Billy Johnson and live in SE Georgia. I thought I would introduce myself and while I'm at it, ask the most common question - Which detector to get? I am a retired engineer so I do understand that you will need to know more before a reasonable suggestion can be cast! I've been interested in relics and treasures for years, so I too am looking for a detector! Like many, I would like a 'top-drawer' detector, but my budget will not allow such actions today. However, I do have about $500 to $700 to spend ... actually if really impressed I may could go $900 or so!

I will continue this in another forum for newbies ...

Looking forward to meeting y'all!

Billy

Hello and welcome to the forum Billy!

Welcome to Treasure Net from Mississippi! :)

Welcome to the Net Billy. All i can say about getting a detector if you have never detected before is start small. The high end machines can be very overwhelming for a noob and could cause you to get discouraged and quit before you ever get a chance to fall in love with what i consider to be the greatest hobby there ever has been. Good luck and Happy Hunting.

Welcome, Billy. Whatever machine you look at, put the required 100 hours on it before you decide on a different one. And keep it out of the closet. Certain way to ruin the hobby is letting someone know the detector is in the closet! TTC

Welcome...

from Central Florida!
