hello from central Florida

hello from central florida, I am new to the hobby of treasure hunting and metal detecting. i picked up a cheap discovery 1000 on craigslist that i traded a cast net for only been out a couple of times but man is it a blast. Anyway what brought me to this forum was looking for how to's and good beginner guides on how to setup my detector and different local laws. hopefully with time ill have something cool to post in the finds thread.

Florida has old stuff, and hundreds of miles of BEACHES...!
A sand scoop AND a waterproof pinpointer is a good start on your gear,
as money is available.
The wisdom of that is, faster recovery of targets, at waterline - I assume your detector isn't water-proof.
Yeah, jewelry, coins, etc is out there...!
So, what are you waiting for...??!
Go out and find some STUFF!

that is good to know for now i am set with the discovery 1000 but come tax return time i want to get something a little better once i better understand the basics. so i will check you guys out when im ready to buy.
