Hello from Fort Walton Beach Florida! Ship building nail or not?

Hi Folks:
I'm new to this site because I wanted to share a find that I have. This item appears to be possibly a ship building nail. I found it in my yard! We live only a couple miles from the Gulf of Mexico and we know that Spanish ships did land here so I'm wondering if anyone knows for sure what this might be! It is quite heavy and is 12 inches in length. Any comments will be appreciated.
