Hi Everyone,
Very nice site you have here. While searching to buy a metal detector I came across this site and I'm glad I did.
I'm from Detroit actually but I live north of there now. I'm just coming back to the hobby after quite a few years. I'm 71. My first metal detector was a Whites which had about a 2" depth. I bought it in California right around 1963 and brought it back to Michigan with me and I've been hooked ever since. I didn't know anyone at that time who even had one in Michigan. Talk about virgin sites. We had lots of them here. My next few detectors were Compasses. Great machines. I have found numerous coins and rings through the years. I have managed to hold on to only a few of them. I remember filling up the pockets of the old nail aprons with silver coins up to the top. I also have done some water work by floating the detector box in an inner tube. I've worked some ghost towns out in Arizona and I've been to the Superstition Mountains also. Scary stuff. It's been a magnificent trip and I'm looking forward to some more good years now that I'm retired and on my own. Thanks for letting me be part of this forum. Remember to leave it like it was when you got there. Best wishes, Jim
