New here, and new to hobby. 
I've been interested in metal detecting since I had a White's detector as a kid. That may be partly responsible for my interest and career in electrical engineering. Now that I am semi-retired (mid-50's), my "plan" is to chase my well-established photography hobby as well as this recently ressurected metal detecting hobby. I'm mostly interested in GOLD (prospecting out west), finding old COINS, and maybe some relics too. (I'd like to go find that 100-pound gold placer "nugget" while I am still young enough to lift it.)
Anyway, hoping to learn more about the hobby here, and maybe make some new local friends who are in the hobby as well.
