Hello from CA! I am new to TreasureNet, but not new to Metal Detecting.

I have been Metal detecting since I was in the 1st grade.

My inspiration to start was watching JD's Variety Channel on YouTube (those who know, know).

I like penguins (hence my username)

I like TreasureNet because I can see cool things everyone finds. My best find is an 1856 Seated Quarter.
The thrill of a good find keeps me going even when I have a dud of a day.
The average person thinks Metal detecting is an old folks' hobby. I say that it is also for kids and teenagers like me.

Nice, and welcome! I'm fairly young myself in the community (late 20's), but I like metal detecting, because it's like solving a puzzle or playing detective to find where buried treasure lies. Every outing is a learning experience that helps paint a small part of a more complete picture. You get wiser and more efficient, while enjoying the thrill of the hunt!

Agree. This site has lost some good people since I joined, but I like to believe their spirit finds some happiness in knowing they encouraged interest into something they loved that will be continued on because of them. Edit: Oops, forgot to say welcome.
