So I received my Garrett at pro today and I need some help. When I turn the iron disc up to say 35 the metal detector lets my know Iron is there with a beep. I thought the hole point of turning the iron disc up was to eliminate the iron sound I can even turn it up to 40 and it will still beep if the iron is at 20.

And no I don't have the iron audio on. And the sensitivity is two bars down from max.

What program you using

There are some great videos on youtube, put out by Garrett. They are are well done. I recommend watch them.

I am using pro mode and zero and then I turn the disc up to 35 and when something is lower than that number it beeps really fast. For a second

I watched all the Garrett videos on YouTube even there officially YouTube channel.

Anyone got an idea

make sure coil wire is properly routed. Holding the coil in the air shake it slightly and see if the unit sounds off. Could possibly be EMI also. Does it beep or grunt ? A quick fast beep is kinda normal and the vdi will flash like a 20 for a split second. . But it shouldn't grunt with iron desc set at 40 and iron audio off in pro mode. Hope this helps

Yes the coil wire is pretty tight. The problem is when I go to set the iron disc to say 35 to eliminate some iron it will still beep on iron that is in the low 20.

Maybe I don't have it ground balance right would that cause this problem.

Try and manually notch out or turn off all the targets below the 40 mark as well . You may have one or two accidentally on . Gaz

I will check once I return home from work and let you know I am going to try a couple more things. If I still can't get it to work I will post a video of it.

If anyone else has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated.

You can't manually notch out targets below 40. You run the disc up to 40 to eliminate those targets.

Even with disc @ 40, mine still chatters a little bit on the iron. I think with larger iron targets you'll still get some chatter even with iron disc set at max. I believe that would be normal. I don't think it is realistic to think the machine will be totally silent just because iron disc is set at max.

Watch the display closely when it beeps. It is briefly ringing up a number higher than 40 and your probably not catching it. You will have many more times that iron will ring up in the higher numbers. Any detector will do the same.

Turn the iron audio off

Sent from my expensive phone I really don't need

Ok I didn't see you already had it off... You can try a factory reset or contact Garrett

Do you have a 4.5" super sniper search coil? The coil is great for trashy areas.

Do the automatic ground balance then manually lower your ground balance 5 to 10 lower and see if this helps.

Mine does too....usally when its bouncing thru numbers. But it doesn't effect me at all, Iron Audio gives you a different sound to drown out any false good signals....But once you get used to it, you wont even notice it.

Yeah it only happens when it bounces thru the disc numbers anywhere from 0 40 numbers it gives me a sight beep sound. But nothing loud
