It looks like you found cool Naval button! Congrats on the awesome finds. Where there's wheat's there should be silver! Here's a pic of a Union naval button. Looks similar.

I really like this button. I found two of them last month in an old park and both were corroded. Congrats on the find.

Nice find! Now just a word of caution--many Navy buttons look quite similar. I found a similar Navy button at an 1820's house site--and then found out that without the backmark legible there was no way to know if it was 1800's or 1900's...

Can you read the backmark? Either way, I agree that you've nailed down a match, design-wise.
