It says "Made in USA" and the crescent shaped slot has graduated marks on it. Found with AT Pro 4-5 inches deep at an old home site. Appears to have either chrome or possibly silver plating. Inside of the back doesn't appear to have any markings that I can see.

Here is the inside view of the piece. I was unable to find any of the other parts after searching the area. I don't see any markings on the inside. The area i found it in had a house as late as the 1930s and I found lots of square nails in the same area along with two 36 cal round balls. The area is now a city park.
