Hey folks,

Found these in Civil War area, any help will be appreciated.

This one I know I’ve seen in CW shadow boxes, just don’t know exactly what it is;

This one I feel like I’ve seen before as well but can’t figure it out;

This last guy measures 2.14 inches length wise

Thanks for any help.

My guesses:
#1 clock plate
#2 heel plate
#3 canteen stopper

Damn just like that?! Haha, thank you.

I heard someone mention a clock plate before, but come up with nothing when I search “civil war clocks”? Any clue as to how these things looked?

Thanks again for you help!

basically the clock plate is where all the gears were mounted on inside the clock

I'm just guessing on the other two, hopefully an expert will be along shortly :laughing7:

I agree with clock guts, but if #2 is a heel plate, it is a very crude version I have never seen. The other piece is definitely not a civil war canteen stopper. Here is a good example of a civil war canteen stopper I found in Virginia on a DIV hunt. See the piece on the bottom row.

BINGO !!

The 'canteen stopper ' could be a more uncommon style , as that was my first thought when I saw the picture.
Good Stuff
Davers

OH. I think the piece is broken in 1 place or more.

Just my opinion.

That’s what I thought at first, but has almost no curvature to it....someone might have been a horrible spoon maker though :)
If you're in camp and need a spoon you make the best you can with what you've got . may be something else but that's my guess. years ago I found a falling down outhouse in the woods , the hinges were strips of leather and the door handle was a U.S belt buckle with a bolt through the center. folks making due with what was on hand..

Suppose you are correct.
